That character may feature evil and commendable aspects which could cause them to have three-fold personalities. In The merchant of Venice, by William Shakespeare, moneylender- the most controversial character in the play, is a predominant example of one of those characters.There are many variant reasons why usurer is considered a villian. Firstly, Shylock is the villian of the play, because of his hatred towards Christians and others some him. Secondly, Shylock is a villian, because he is a greedy gold lender. Lastly, Shylock is a villian, because instead of creation merciful to Antonio, he wants to take his flesh to feed his revenge. Thus, Shylocks quaternary personalities has portrayed him to befit the villian of the play. Shylock is portrayed as a villian, because of his hatred towards Christians and the mickle around him.
